Your heart's desire

I've been having a bit of an art block lately, but I can always count on Jacob and Nini to help me with that.

Just wanted to draw Jacob in different forms. I rather like some of them, so I'll probably end up reusing them for different characters.

Girl in the snow

This is the kind of stuff Jacob was getting up to in Japan before he met Nini. He heard about how the samurai fought demons, but was not overly impressed by how some samurai behaved, and decided to teach them a lesson.

Mind you, long before this Jacob had decided to make it his mission to punish humans for their bad behavior. Though more often than not he would trick them into behaving badly just so he could punish them...

Girl's next best friend

I really enjoy drawing Nini's fat bottom. <3

Anyway, the sluggish looking woman is a sazae-oni, a type of creatures that belongs in the same category as the kitsune because they're animals that turn into demons when they reach a certain age. In this case it's a sea snail that has turned 30 years old. They disguise themselves as beautiful women who will sleep with any man who wants her, but then cuts off his testicles and turn them into pearls. The men can only get them back if they give her gold.
One can only assume the testicles can somehow be put back on magically seeing as the men wants them back instead of running for their lives.

Also, it gave me an opportunity to draw Nini being protective of Jacob for once. Her favorite part of him may be his backside, but she quite likes the front too. ;)

Fluffy Bum

Today we think of unicorns as beautiful gentle creatures, but you'd be surprised by how violent they were in older stories. Norwegians unicorns were even believed to eat humans, and there are stories about people feeding them bears and bulls to keep from getting eaten themselves.

Teenage Jacob

Here's Jacob in his awkward teenage years. He was trying to look scary to fit in with the asuras who were a rather violent and scary bunch, so he used his shape shifting abilities to try and look as demonic as he could. And while they had a pretty bad influence on him, eventually turning him into a demon, his yaksha nature was still more interested in fertility and love, and he eventually left the asuras and toned his appearance down. Looking back he just thinks he look like a complete dork.

Don't worry Jacob, it's perfectly normal for teenagers. We all go through a period where we try to look cool or scary but in hindsight just looked incredibly stupid because we had no idea what we were doing.

Nini haven't changed much though. She was just a simple country kappa who just wanted to eat babies and grab butts. She looked the same only with smaller breasts and not as "well fed". ;)

Lilith

Lilith is a character from Jewish mythology. According to some Jewish texts she was Adam's first wife, created from dirt just like him. But she wouldn't let Adam control her, and wanted to control him, even going so far as insisting on being on top during sex. When god told her she had to obey Adam she ran away from Paradise and became a demon who had children with other demons. God sent three angels to get her back, but she still refused. One version says they told her to kill most of her children to stay out of Paradise, another version says the angels killed them as punishment. Either way she ended up with a lot of dead children but was allowed to be free.

She's often depicted as a super slutty demon, but a lot of feminist groups use her as their symbol, so I like to make her look like a horrifying feminazi (or a dominatrix with a strap-on, her wanting to be on top and all). Yes, I'm a feminist myself, but that doesn't mean I can't make fun of us.

The devil guy is all naked because I you look at the pictures in European churches devils are always running around naked with a massive boner.

Be careful

Jacob and Nini are going to make sure the friends stay until midnight, play their poker game, and get to enjoy Jacob's naked bits no matter how much they cry.

The idea came by when I was asked if I could draw Jacob and Nini as a butler and sexy maid. But of course. ;)

Curious Demon Lovers

I went to a really fancy bookstore today that specialized in artbooks, and among books about art in the Middle East was, for some reason, one about erotic art from ancient Japan. I had to own that.

So this is inspired by such art. No picture in particular, but just the playful and often silly nature of Japanese erotic art from that period.

Queen of Demons

I saw this video and thought, "Jacob would so hit that. Hard" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEKIcrnExek&feature
That is the queen of demons, Rangda, from Bali.

And I came to the conclusion that Jacob is a yaksha, which is a form of Hindu nature spirit that can be both evil and romantic, depending on it's mood. They are even formed in the roots of trees, so that classification fitted Jacob perfectly.

Don't worry about Nini. The only thing about this that'll upset her is that Jacob got lost on his way to the grocery store.

Girls' Night

It's late and I should not be making comics at this hour. I just end up making dirty jokes about kappas' habit of sharing their "victims" with their friends. Honestly, kappas are horrible horrible creatures.

I colored this one on computer because I wanted the kappas to have different shades of blue/green/yellow which I can't so with my markers.
